Community School - Scaling Up for Greater Impact

Community School - Scaling Up for Greater Impact

At Quest Compassionate Education, we believe that small beginnings can lead to big changes. One of our most rewarding partnerships is with Samban Chea, a passionate environmental advocate and educator in rural Cambodia. Through his independent community school, we’ve been delivering weekly online English lessons to children and teenagers, helping them acquire essential language skills to unlock future opportunities in tourism, conservation, and beyond.

Partnering with Samban Chea and His Community School: Scaling Up for Greater Impact

A Trial That’s Already Changing Lives

Over the past few months, we’ve been trialing our online lessons with Samban’s school. Using just a phone and the dedicated teaching of our volunteer Learning and Development Manager, Rachael, we’ve already seen remarkable progress.

The students are not only learning English—they’re gaining confidence and communication skills that will help them pursue brighter futures. These young learners now have the tools to dream bigger, whether it’s guiding tourists through Cambodia’s stunning landmarks or advocating for conservation in their communities.

But while the trial has proven that our approach works, we’ve also faced challenges that limit our ability to reach our fullest potential.

Why We Need to Scale Up

Right now, our lessons are limited to small groups due to:

  1. Equipment Constraints: Delivering lessons via a phone has been a practical start, but it’s far from ideal.
  2. Limited Volunteers: With one volunteer teacher, we can only offer a limited number of lessons.
  3. Lack of Resources: The children need better materials to support their learning and make lessons more engaging.

We’ve started small, testing what works, and now it’s time to think bigger. By scaling up, we can widen our impact, reach more children, and create sustainable change for entire communities.

Our Vision for the Future

With the right support, we can transform this trial project into a core initiative at Quest Compassionate Education. Here’s how we plan to grow:

  1. Investing in Equipment:
    • Tablets, large screen, reliable internet, and better teaching tools will allow us to deliver more dynamic lessons and reach larger groups of students.
  2. Expanding Volunteer Support:
    • Recruiting more volunteer teachers will enable us to increase the number of lessons and serve more communities.
  3. Enhancing Learning Resources:
    • Providing students with videos, books, worksheets, and interactive materials will make lessons more effective and enjoyable.
  4. Building Partnerships:
    • Collaborating with donors, grant providers, and other organisations will help us secure the funding needed to expand.

Why This Matters

English is more than a skill—it’s a pathway to opportunity. For these students, learning English opens doors to careers in tourism, hospitality, conservation, and more. It’s a chance to contribute to their communities while improving their own lives.

Through our partnership with Samban, we’ve seen how even small efforts can spark meaningful change. Now, we’re ready to take this project to the next level.

How You Can Help

To grow this project, we need your support. Donations, equipment contributions, and volunteer time can help us reach more children and communities, creating a brighter future for Cambodia.

Every lesson delivered, every resource provided, and every child reached brings us closer to our mission of making education accessible and impactful. Together, we can take this project from a small trial to a program that changes countless lives.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s think bigger, work together, and make a lasting difference.
