Teacher Training and Development
We believe that quality education starts with well-trained, passionate teachers. To make a lasting impact on education in Cambodia, we are launching a new project to hire and develop a team of qualified Cambodian teachers. This initiative will provide comprehensive training and continuous professional development, ensuring teachers have the skills and knowledge to make a real difference in classrooms and communities.
Our Teacher Training Program
We are currently applying for grants to hire three qualified Cambodian teachers. Once hired, these teachers will undergo an intensive training program designed to enhance their skills and qualifications. Our approach includes:
- TEFL Certification: Each teacher will be enrolled in a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course to equip them with the essential language teaching techniques and methodologies.
- In-House Training: We’ll provide in-house training, focusing on cutting-edge teaching methods in partnership with UK university programs. This will ensure they are exposed to the latest teaching practices and innovations in education.
- Seminars & Training Updates: Even after the initial training period, teachers will benefit from frequent seminars and training updates to keep their skills current and ensure continuous professional growth.
Once training is complete and they have received their TEFL certification, our teachers will be equipped to make a tangible difference in the local communities.
Expanding Impact through Teacher Outreach
Once trained, our teachers will take their knowledge and expertise into primary schools and community settings. Their role will include:
- Providing Teacher Training to Schools: Our trained teachers will visit Cambodian primary schools to train local teachers to improve their English teaching skills. This training will directly enhance the overall quality of education in the schools they work with.
- Community-based English Lessons: In addition to working in schools, our teachers will visit local communitiesto deliver English lessons to community schools, groups, and organizations. These lessons will help increase access to English education, giving more young people and adults the opportunity to develop essential language skills.
- Corporate and Nonprofit Training: Our teachers will also be available to provide basic English language training to nonprofits looking to improve their outreach efforts, as well as businesses seeking to enhance their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. By equipping both nonprofits and businesses with the skills they need, we’ll contribute to community-wide improvement and growth.
Fair Pay and Professional Development
To ensure our teachers can dedicate their time and energy to their work, we will provide them a fair living wage during their training period. This wage will allow them to focus entirely on their development and the impact they can make through the project.
Once the teachers have completed their training and earned their TEFL certification, their salaries will increase to above Cambodian teaching levels, and their new qualifications and expertise will be recognized. This pay structure ensures that the teachers are compensated fairly and motivated to stay committed to the project and the communities they serve.
Sustainability and Growth
This project is initially designed for two years, after which we will thoroughly evaluate the impact. Based on the evaluation, we will adjust the program, refine the approach, and expand the project to reach more schools, communities, and businesses in Cambodia.
By developing a team of highly trained teachers and offering continuous professional development, we aim to widen our impact across Cambodia, empowering educators and learners to thrive in an increasingly globalized world.
