Our story begins in Cambodia, where we lived for three transformative years. During that time, we were known as Epic Animal Quest, a social enterprise dedicated to animal welfare, education, and community action. The work was challenging but deeply rewarding as we built connections with local communities, social enterprises, charities, and NGOs. Together, we worked on impactful initiatives to improve the lives of animals and people alike.

When COVID-19 restrictions hit, we had to cease operations, a bittersweet moment for us, to say the least. But the experience left an indelible mark. It shaped our values, strengthened our resolve, and inspired us to channel our passion into something new: Quest Compassionate Education. 

Our Journey from Epic Animal Quest to Quest Compassionate Education

Why Education?

During our time in Cambodia, we saw firsthand how education can transform lives. From empowering individuals with skills to unlocking opportunities for entire communities, education is the foundation of lasting change. Yet, the challenges faced by underserved areas are immense—limited resources, outdated teaching methods, and a lack of collaboration often hinder progress.

At Quest Compassionate Education, we aim to address these challenges by focusing on teacher training, delivering online lessons, and providing resources to underserved schools. We’ve developed programs tailored to the unique needs of the communities we met, all built on the belief that education isn’t just a tool—it’s a lifeline.

Our Projects in Action

We’re proud to be working on several impactful initiatives that reflect the heart of our mission:

1. Growing Online English Lessons

Our weekly online lessons began when Samban, a passionate teacher running an after-school program, approached us for help. The demand was there, and we saw the benefits immediately. Now, we’re working to expand the program, providing equipment and resources to reach more children in rural areas.

2. Providing a New Library for a School Near Siem Reap

On our upcoming visit to Cambodia, we’ll deliver a brand-new library book collection to a primary school about an hour from Siem Reap. This will greatly enhance their existing resources, giving children more opportunities to learn, imagine, and grow.

3. Teacher Training for Long-Term Impact

One of our most ambitious projects is a comprehensive teacher training program. By equipping Cambodian educators with modern teaching techniques and resources, we’re creating a ripple effect that will benefit thousands of students. This project requires significant funding, and we’re actively pursuing grants to support it over a two-year period.

4. Exploring New Community Initiatives

We’re also researching future projects in rabies prevention, animal safety education, and community action. These efforts will complement our educational mission, fostering safer and more connected communities.

The Power of Collaboration

Throughout my experience working with many organisations in Cambodia, I’ve seen how powerful collaboration can be. Too often, I’ve witnessed missed opportunities for meaningful change due to competition for resources or a lack of willingness to work together.

But when organisations come together with a shared mission, amazing things happen. Collaboration is at the core of everything we do at Quest Compassionate Education. By partnering with like-minded individuals and groups, we share resources, solve problems more effectively, and create sustainable solutions that benefit everyone.

This approach isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about building trust, generating goodwill, and ensuring that the communities we serve are at the centre of our efforts.

Our Love for Cambodia

Cambodia will always hold a special place in our hearts. The friends we made, the people we worked alongside, and the stories we shared shaped us profoundly. From collaborating with inspiring social enterprises and NGOs to engaging with grassroots community action groups, we’ve seen the incredible strength and resilience of Cambodian communities.

Now, through Quest Compassionate Education, we’re committed to giving back to the country that gave us so much.

With our recent charity registration, we’re excited to take these projects to the next level. Whether it’s expanding our online lessons, delivering much-needed resources to schools, or training the next generation of educators, we’re ready to make a lasting impact.
